November was another busy month at the library. We started a new Tot Time program specializing in early literacy. It's been a real hit with moms and toddlers who have tried it so far. If you're interested in attending our weekly Tot Time, just come in the library on Monday at 11:00 prepared to laugh and learn with your toddler.
We also had a wonderful Veterans Day program along with the local American Legion. Over 200 people attended.

Fall Fun Update
I'm going to declare our first two fall programs a great success. The Teen/Tween night had a great turnout and the kids had lots of fun trying out Halloween makeup ideas and playing games together. Then, the very next day, the crafters took over. A really nice group got together to share their crafts and work on them together. Be sure to check out the pictures for your friends or yourself.
Don't forget this Saturday on Halloween we will have a kids costume contest. Be sure to come in the library and show off what your kids have put together for a Halloween costume this year.

Fall Fun for Everyone
Rosebud County Library has lots of fun fall events coming really soon!
Tomorrow teens and tweens can come into the library for our after-hours teen/tween night. We're serving up a full nacho bar and then we'll all try our hand at all the cool makeup and nail art tutorials from YouTube and Pinterest.. Then, of course there will be lots of pictures!
This Saturday we are having a fun craft get together. Just bring any craft you're working on or would like to share. This is a great opportunity to learn something new from your neighbors and get great ideas

'Cause We're All About that Database! It's EBSCO!
Because you know I'm all about that database,
'Bout that database, it's EBSCO
I'm all 'bout that database, 'bout that database, it's EBSCO
I'm all 'bout that database, 'bout that database, it's EBSCO
I'm all 'bout that database, 'bout that database
Whew! That was a fun little attempt of a parody. But seriously, if you have a school-aged child and you don't know about the EBSCO databases, you need to find out about them. The Montana State Library pays for access to the EBSCO databases for use by all Montana library patrons through their local library. Just call us at 406-346-7561 and we'll give you the password to access the databases from school or your own home.
If your kid needs to do a report on a historical figure, there's the Biography Reference Center. Are they writing a book report? There's the literary reference center. If your child is on the debate team or trying to write a persuasive essay there's the point of view reference center. If they need info on any figure in history there's the historical reference center.

BookMyne
Wouldn't it be great if there was one quick and easy place to see what you've borrowed from the library, when it's due and search for new things to check out? Well, guess what! There's an app for that. Its called BookMyne. You can download it from the app store and log in to your Rosebud County Library account.
It's really simple. You just download the app, open it and the app will ask to your permission to access your location. Say yes and the app will find the closest library to you and lists it on the screen. Then you tap the plus sign to add it to your libraries. After that you will find a place to enter your library card number, your pin and a nickname. Luckily if you don't have that information handy, the app also lists your library's hours and telephone number. If you don't know just call during regular hours and the librarians at Rosebud County Library will gladly give you your information.

Research vs. Google Search
We're well into the the 21st century now and just about every single one of us carry a fantastic device that can answer just about any question we have on a whim. Our smartphones, yay! They're great for finding out a company's telephone number and/or hours or who that guy in the movie was, you know, important stuff.
Usually the ever-powerful Google search is where we go to find out what we need to know. But, sometimes, you need to know more. When it's important, you need facts and specific details. That's where the Montana Statewide Library Resources come in. The Montana State Library provides a wonderful tool that allows you to search various reliable databases using a single search box. It's called DiscoverIt! You can find this search tool by going to mtslr.org.

Changes in Our Library
WOW! You should come into to Rosebud County Library just to see all the changes that have happened in the last year. It all started with the installation of new carpet last fall. Which led to moving every single thing in the library around anyway. So we really re-vamped everything!
Every gathering area in the library got a great facelift. We swapped the children's area with the adult lounge area, really giving each separate area a much better layout. The adults have better natural light for reading newspapers and magazines now. Plus, a Keurig coffee machine has been added to the lounge. The children's area now has great spaces for story hour, playing and crafts. A cool new rug was added along with some really cool custom furniture made by own very own local patrons.
The teen area stayed in the same place but got some really awesome updates to bring it back into style. New paint on the main wall along with some great new shelves, crafted and installed by a local patron, really made the area pop. A wonderful photo collage done by one of our teen patrons was hung right in the middle of the wall and it all looks great together. The local high school shop class helped put together a cool pallet couch which the library tied together with cushions and cool coverings.
